“Broken Optimism” emerged from a period of frustration caused by several failed attempts at sculpting. This shape features complex curvature, a feature the MOT technique struggles with, particularly at tighter radii. I initially intended to create it using the MOT method, but the metal couldn’t flex enough to form the curves. Ultimately, I recreated the sculpture using the EGMU method, which is more adaptable for this type of curvature.

I will be making a base for this piece so it can stand without the need to hold it or rest it on its side, but I’m running out of time before my first show!
